Holy Days, Consumerism and…
December 2025 Edition
…A Baby. Oh My!
For the last several years, I’ve been feeling a growing disconnectfrom the holiday season. As an adult, the magic of the holy days (holidays) waned and I slowly became consumed inconsumerism. While there is something really sweet and festive about engaging in the hustle and bustle with everyone out shopping for their loved ones, for me, it sometimes felt forced and without heart.
Maybe the disconnect came from both of my grandmothers passing over the years which were the gathering places for our large family traditions and being together. Or it could be from feeling like this time together is all about gifting and that has come to feel really empty to me. The questions that have been surfacing the last few years are, “What are we really doing? What does this time really mean?”
Funny enough, I am due to give birth on Christmas Eve this year. After all these years of feeling disconnected from this season, it’s as if God is giving me a reason to bring joy and meaning back into this time for me and my family.
On another note, it has been an interesting experience in gathering last minute items for baby during this year’s Black Friday extravaganza. Didn’t Black Friday used to be just one day? I am pretty sure it is still going on and it’s been over a month of sales and deals and it’s exhausting! While I’ve been grateful to gather a few last minute items for baby with the lower prices, the constant feed of emails and the continual sale of things is like a grinding on my soul. I am so tired of buying things. Why? Because it is all external, all outside of my heart.
So while I still haven’t figured out the answer to my questions about the meaning of this time of year, I know what doesn’t feel good - solely focusing on material objects to give meaning to the season. My soul longs for something deeper.
I’ve slowly come to reconnect with what actually makes the magic of the season… bringing live greens into the home when the weather becomes cold and snowy as the Earth prepares for her slumber. Cooking and baking with friends and family and sharing conversation over intentionally prepared foods. Allowing the lights to turn low in the evenings, enjoying candlelight and the fire while reading out loud, playing games or crafting. Finding the joy in the simple things, slowing down and savoring what is right in front of me.
It’s easy to forget how much health and well-being, our own and those we love, is the most treasured gift we can have. A friend who was recently very sick for an extended period of time, shared with us that age old adage - “if you don’t have your health, you have nothing”. It’s so true!
So maybe, while not the immediate gratification of opening a material gift, consider the long-term benefit of gifting yourself and your loved ones something more potent like a session in the Harmonic Egg®️, a day at the hot springs, bodywork or herbal products to keep you grounded and in your heart and health.
Sometimes, healing services don’t seem as tangible to us - we feel like we spend money on something “unseen” and it might subconsciously feel like a waste because it is not a material item that other people can see. However, our health couldn’t be in a more vulnerable state these days - with toxins in our food, clothes, cleaning products and more, EMFs interfering with our own personal frequency, blue light from screens (also referred to as a silent killer of our time), and more… to invest in your health through healing services to detoxify the body mind and spirit is the number one medicine of our time.
Sound therapy from the Harmonic Egg®️ shifts the brain waves into theta and delta, a healing zone where self-repair, homeostasis and the release of serotonin (the “happy hormone”) occurs. (scientifically proven btw). When you consider your body is made up of as many as 60 Trillion, yes, TRILLION, cells, it’s remarkable how these cells communicate with one another to keep us healthy. Each cell is “listening for environmental signals and relaying instructions to the DNA within the nucleus of the cell. Your DNA responds by activating the necessary machinery within the cell.” When these cells are out-of-balance, from the many reasons stated above and including your emotional states, the hormonal pathways will shut down, leaving you frustrated, anxious, sad, depressed and so on, making you more susceptible to illness and disease if it continues.
A session in the Harmonic Egg®️ is akin to a tune-up to bring your cells back into balance much like a finely tuned orchestra. Healthy cells mean a healthy life and who doesn’t want that?
I read a recent quote “real sincerity is radical honesty.” I’d also suggest REAL HEALTH IS RADICAL HONESTY. It’s a whole body system that needs to work in concert with all facets of our lives.
So here is a RADICAL offer (ok, not that radical) for you and your loved ones this holiday season.
May you all be held in the peace and joy of the season. We are radically grateful for your support of our small business.
